This is one from a series of twenty-four engravings made by different printmakers following designs of the Nattier brothers after the Marie de’ Medici cycle which Rubens painted around 1622-1623. This series was commissioned by the queen in autumn 1621 and shows different episodes of her life, most of them in an allegorical manner. They were hung in a gallery in the Palais du Luxembourg and are now shown in the same order in Paris in the Musée du Louvre.
